Sublette County is located in western Wyoming approximately 70 miles south of Jackson Hole, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and 70 miles north of Rock Springs, Wyoming. We are at the headwaters of the Green River on the west side of the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountains. We are surrounded by three mountain ranges that include two rugged wilderness areas. This rural setting has only about 5,000 residents and the largest town, Pinedale, has less than 1500 residents. The county is 80% public land including Bureau of Land Management (BLM), State, and the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Deer and antelope out-number the residents by 10 fold and are commonly seen year round. Elk, moose, grizzly and black bear, and many other wildlife species call Sublette County home. This high mountain valley setting with rivers, over 1,300 lakes, wildlife and towering mountains has been a vacation destination for over 100 years. Because of the remote, rural nature and small communities, Sublette County is not the typical convention spot. However, for those who wish to plan a small to medium size convention, meeting, or group gathering in a scenic environment, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Sublette County offers facilities and services in a relaxing, unique venue.

Where should you start if you are planning a convention? First stop is to call or stop by the Sublette County Visitor's Center to discuss the specifics of your event and the dates you wish to meet. You can download and print out a copy of our county's public meeting facility list and lodging chart from this web site or pick these up at the Visitor's Center. Brochures and literature from local businesses and services, maps, and recreation information are also available at the Visitor's Center. Most of the coordination and leg work for your event will be up to the organizer, but the Visitor's Center can help get you started with information and tips for planning your event. Be sure to plan months in advance to ensure lodging and meeting room availability, especially for summer events.

Meeting Facilities
Sublette County offers both public and private meeting facilities including public building meeting rooms, banquet halls, church community rooms, school auditoriums, community centers and banquet halls. Most facilities are perfect for groups of 12-100 people. Some can handle 150 and up to 500. See the meeting facilities page for more information.

Lodging
The largest motels in Sublette County have about 50 rooms. There are over 200 motel rooms in Pinedale and over 100 in Big Piney/Marbleton. There are also dozens of other options ranging from bed & breakfasts, cabins & guest ranches, most of which provide some dining and recreation services. Plan early if you want to meet in July or August as these summer months are the busy season for most lodging establishments. Other times of the year should be easier to arrange lodging. See the lodging page for more information.

Dining
Restaurants in the county are family-run local establishments with excellent food. Chain restaurants have not found there way into the county yet. Most motels do not have food services, but many restaurants are close by, often within walking distance. Several can host large groups for meals and some have banquet rooms. Bed & breakfasts and guest ranches usually provide dining, but cater to smaller groups. See the Pinedale Chamber and Big Piney Chamber websites for more information.

Recreation & Attractions
When you get a break from your meeting, don't miss out on the area recreation and attractions. Or better yet, plan ahead and spend an extra few days to play. Our best asset is outdoor recreation, including fishing, hiking, camping, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Or just take a few hours for a scenic drive or visit some of the numerous historical sites. Don't miss the Museum of the Mountain Man and Green River Valley Museum while you are in town. See the Outdoors, Destinations and Events pages for more details. Our local outfitters & guides are always happy to plan a fishing trip or outing for you if you would like to leave the planning work to someone else and just enjoy the outdoor fun!

Transportation
Sublette County has two general aviation airports, one in Big Piney and one in Pinedale, which can accommodate small private jets. Commercial flights are available into Jackson Hole (70 miles), Rock Springs (100 miles), or Salt Lake City (200 miles). Car rentals are available from these airports to Sublette County. There are no local car rental services, however shuttle services are available with advance arrangements. See the trip planner page for more information.

Please don't hesitate to contact the Sublette County Visitor's Center if you have questions or need help arranging a convention. Fill out our online contact form, e-mail us:, or call . We look forward to seeing you in Sublette County!
