The Sublette Cutoff of the Oregon Trail passes just six miles south of LaBarge on U.S. Hwy 189 at Names Hill, an important historic site. The oldest names carved on the sandstone rock are from 1827, and an inscription of “James Bridger, Trapper, 1844” is still visible. There are even prehistoric petroglyphs in the area.
Fontenelle Reservoir, south of LaBarge on the Green River, is a popular fishing destination. The lake is 20 miles long and there are both developed and primitive campsites around it.
